Veneers are wafer-like pieces of porcelain that are placed on the front surface of a tooth to enhance appearance. Veneers are a popular treatment due to their versatility and simplicity.
Veneers have a variety of uses including:
- To create a beautiful and uniform smile
- To enhance the color
- To correct misshapen or crooked teeth
- To repair chipped teeth
- To resize teeth
Veneers are virtually undetectable and are resistant to stains caused by wine, tea, coffee, etc. They are also highly durable, and with proper care, can last for up to a decade.
Veneers require two visits to our office. First, the tooth is prepared by shaving off a very small amount of the enamel to accommodate for the thickness of the veneer. Impressions of the tooth are taken, and the color of your veneer is determined. Your veneer will be created in a dental lab, and you will receive a temporary restoration. On your second visit, the tooth will be cleaned and treated with etching gel to help the veneer bond. The veneer will then be placed on the tooth and affixed with a dental bonding agent.
