Wisdom Teeth Extractions
Wisdom teeth, which are the third molars, develop in the back of the mouth, usually erupting when a person is in their late teens or early twenties. Although some people are able to keep their wisdom teeth, they are most often extracted due to lack of space which causes them to become impacted or crowd other teeth.
At Crossroads Dental Care, we have considerable experience in wisdom tooth extraction. In most cases, a patient will be fully healed from this procedure in about a week; however, this length of time varies depending upon the position of the tooth. Although most normal activities can be conducted during the recovery process, it is essential that the patient be very careful not to disturb the blood clot that will have formed at the extraction site.
During recovery, you should consume soft foods, drink plenty of fluids and avoid smoking, vigorous exercise and using a straw. In the event that you experience any serious issues such as a dry socket or uncontrollable pain, contact our office right away.
